Consent Policy

Consent is the foundation of everything we create at Khemistry Boston. Our spaces are designed for exploration, connection, and expression, but none of that is possible without clear, informed, and enthusiastic consent from everyone involved.

This policy outlines what we expect from our community, and what you can expect from us.

Consent is an active, ongoing, and informed agreement between participants to engage in a specific activity.

  • Consent must be freely given, enthusiastic, and reversible at any time
  • All parties must understand what they are agreeing to
  • Consent is specific, agreeing to one activity does not imply agreement to others
  • Consent is a continuous process, not a one time check

A consent violation occurs when someone crosses another person’s boundaries, including:

  • Engaging in any activity without prior agreement
  • Continuing after consent has been withdrawn
  • Ignoring verbal or non-verbal cues to stop or slow down
  • Pressuring, coercing, or repeatedly asking after a “no”

Violations can happen intentionally or unintentionally. Regardless of intent, harm will be taken seriously.

Community Expectations

All attendees are expected to uphold the following:

Ask Before You Touch

  • Verbal consent is required before initiating any physical interaction
  • Do not rely on body language or assumptions

Negotiate Before Play

  • Discuss boundaries, desires, limits, and expectations before engaging
  • Clearly communicate your own boundaries
  • Use safewords when appropriate (we recognize “Red” = stop and “Yellow” = slow down/check-in)
  • Check in regularly with your partner(s)
  • Stop immediately if consent is withdrawn or if there is hesitation
  • Respond to boundaries with respect and care
  • Do not engage with someone who appears too intoxicated or otherwise unable to give clear consent
  • If unsure, pause and check in, or do not proceed

Respect Scenes and Space

  • Do not interrupt, crowd, or involve yourself in others scenes without explicit permission
  • Maintain awareness of the physical and emotional space around you

No Harassment or Discrimination

We do not tolerate:

  • Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or ableism
  • Misgendering or disrespecting pronouns
  • Kink-shaming or body-shaming

Treat others with respect, awareness, and care.

Approach with Intention

  • No aggressive cruising, objectifying behavior, or repeated unwanted advances
  • Accept “no” gracefully and without pressure
  • Build connection first, let interaction evolve naturally

Event & Space Respect

  • Follow all event-specific rules and limitations
  • Respect the venue and avoid activities that may cause damage
  • Be mindful of dress, presentation, and cultural sensitivity

Education & Safety

We actively support a culture of consent by:

  • Clearly communicating expectations before and during events
  • Providing orientations for new attendees when required
  • Having Khemistry Boston team members available throughout events for support

Reporting & Support

If you experience or witness a consent violation, we encourage you to report it.

  • Speak to a Khemistry team member at the event, if possible
  • Or email us at [email protected]

We understand that reporting in the moment isn’t always possible. Please reach out as soon as you can.

What to expect:

  • We will acknowledge receipt of your report
  • We may follow up to gather additional information
  • We will communicate next steps where appropriate

We will respect your privacy and discuss any sharing of identifying details with you before doing so.

Outcomes & Accountability

All reports are taken seriously and reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Possible outcomes include:

  • Verbal warnings or education
  • Temporary suspension from events
  • Permanent removal from the community

We value accountability, growth, and repair, but prioritize the safety of our community above all.

Members may also be held responsible for the behavior of guests they bring.

Final Note

Khemistry Boston is a curated, intentional space. Participation is a privilege, not a right. We reserve the right to remove anyone who does not align with our values.

While we strive to create the safest environment possible, each individual is ultimately responsible for their own safety and the safety of those they engage with.
